Abstract

Authentication is a process that occurs between the sender and the recipient so that in this process, either party or one of the parties must provide something to establish trust between the communications; after the authentication process was performed correctly and trust was created naturally, both parties will reach the communication goal and the server will service the client. The purpose of this research was to introduce the security structure and the authentication problem and their implementation mechanisms, such as the authentication mechanism based on the challenge and response approach, the mechanism based on a key distribution center, the authentication mechanism Nidham-Schroeder, the authentication mechanism with (Kerberos V5. Kerberos version Kerberos5) and authentication mechanism using public key encryption and review each of these methods.
